Hello dear ones! And Happy Friday to you.
When I crawled out of bed this morning, my hubby wrapped me in a hug and said, "It's cloudy and cozy just for you, Babe. Go light your pumpkin candle, pour your coffee, and just sit." He knows me.
The Little and I have been snuggled up inside this week due to those Ohio River allergies that just flatten us. So congested coughs and fevers have meant a week of quiet days at home, which, I will admit, I never mind that side of it. Longer pockets of reading time, some extra 30-minute installments of Disney Jr., several rounds of board games, and my little patient and I have been quite content.
I hope this first full week of September has been filled to the brim with all the coming goodness of fall for you. I am hopeful that this cloudy, possibly stormy (eek!), day means that our cooler weather is trying to make its way in. Once that arrives all the pieces of the glorious puzzle of fall will be fitted together just right.
A few of my favorite things from this past week.......
this song from Audrey Assad. It bears repeating.
when my Little said, "It's not a party without the milanos!"
to add another element to the cozy of this season: a record player. I've been recommended to this crosley turntable a couple times now. Any thoughts?
this sweet tencel shirred popover.
anticipating a batch of these pumpkin molasses sandwich cookies being whipped together very soon.
listening to my Yo-Yo Ma or Sabrina soundtrack Pandora stations.
my sweet friend, Julia, sent me the Apple Picking candle from P.F. Candle Co. last year and the scent of it gives you the feeling that you are standing in the middle of an apple orchard. So I can imagine that this spiced pumpkin candle would make you feel as if everyday is Thanksgiving.
when my hubby got surprised by receiving an award for "outstanding contribution" at work yesterday! cue massively proud wife moment!!!
fall requires layering so this graduate cardigan from Madewell makes for a good closet staple.
our throw blankets are in desperate need of some updating and this stripe throw blanket from Target caught my eye.
my bestie, Liz, introduced me to Marque Modest Apparel that is based out of Atlanta, GA. I love their mission of seeking to encourage women and girls of the worth they have in Jesus and to find satisfaction in Him alone. I interacted over email with their founder, Allie, with a couple questions I had and she couldn't have been more lovely and kind! I ordered the charity top and I'm so eager to wear it many times over this fall.
There have been so many beautiful things to celebrate as of late: friends finding out they are pregnant, some of our dear friends being placed with their second little one through adoption, a new job for my brother, my dad's birthday today (happy birthday daddio!!), J's encouragement at work, AK learning to write letters, friends moving into new homes, two of my nurse friends getting new positions, and on. So much sweetness. So much to stop and say, "thank you, Lord!" for. He is good and does good.
I was texting with a dear friend and telling her that is something I desire my life to be marked by; taking the pauses to recognize and thank the Lord for all He does, not just the big things and not just the good things, but the things that are seemingly small and the things that are just plain hard. To say "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!"
I hope this Friday brings with it a sigh of gratitude and rest for each of you, lovelies, and that, of course, it is happy!
