It is officially AUTUMN. The very best time of year. Give me all the Anne of Green Gables and You've Got Mail quotes, fill my senses with pumpkins and apples, and stack my sweaters high. I am happy.
The official beginning of fall is starting off full of good things in our home: our church women's retreat is this weekend and I am so eager for that time with these dear friends I do life with, we have a special surprise we are preparing for coming soon (no, I'm not pregnant. trust me, I wouldn't tease it like that ;)), my parents and little sister's bf (who we all adore) are coming into town next week and we all about can't stand the excitement, and, in a little over a week, J and I get to getaway together to serve some friends at a conference and I'm simply giddy about it.
It just feels so sweet to me that fall holds all these good gifts in this particular season of our life. Isn't God so kind to care about all the little details of our life? To know the things that make us smile extra wide and fill our hearts so full. He doesn't have to give us those things, but yet, He does, exceedingly, abundantly, out of those deep wells of His love for us. It's beautifully overwhelming to take that in.
A few of my favorite things this past week........
That AK asks at least once a day to walk around in my "tapping shoes" (aka my booties). I just don't ever want her feet to grow big enough to fit in them.
This "It is Well" sign from Magnolia Market.
Hilary Scott's new album, made with her family, "Love Remains" is just sweet and makes me want to take a Tennessee road trip. Her songs "Still" and "Thy Will" have been on repeat with their raw, simple words reminding me of who I am and who God is all the time. And "Come to Jesus" is just.so.good.
Dear friends who I've yet to meet in person but who have become part of that tribe I can't imagine life without. Such a God thing.
Tartan plaids are just made for fall and winter months and I stumbled across The Tartan Blanket Co while shopping for some and promptly feel in love with several: Dark Maple Tartan, Silver Bannockbane Tartan, Mackenzie Tartan, Camel Thomson Tartan. I think a basket-full is in our future.
When a book is entitled "The Year of Cozy" I feel it is imperative that I dig into its contents.
Videos of my nephews who I'm just aching to hug right now.
No matter the fashion of the time I will always, always be a sucker for a Chunky Turtleneck Sweater and this one from Gap makes me think of Meg Ryan in a few scenes of You've Got Mail and so I love it a bit more.
Several of my dear friends are preparing to welcome little ones into the world in the coming weeks and months and in doing some shopping for them I came across a couple darling little shops on Etsy: The Tiny Fox Hole and StorybookBlocks. So much sweetness!
That my hubby is able to work from home some days. Something I don't ever want to take for granted.
Our Chemex is our faithful companion when the cozy days set in. We are French Press people in the morning but the Chemex fills our afternoons and evenings time. And the coffee just looks so pretty in it.
Staying snuggled in bed a little longer this morning to finish this blog for you, lovelies! Thank you for sharing pieces of life with me. It's a gift to write and walk with you.
I hope that you all have the best first weekend of FALL.
Happy Friday, dear ones!
