This has been the fight this week: to choose joy. It's the farthest thing from an easy fight, but it's a battle worth every heavy moment and every tear-stained pillowcase, and in the midst of it all I have had reminders of the Lord's knowing love and sustaining strength land in my days in the kindest of ways. He loves so well, you know, even when we don't understand all His ways. This is a big piece of what I'm learning when I land on the battlefield of choosing joy. He never stops being in control. He never stops being present. He never stops loving with the most intense, constant, soul-pursing love. That's the very best piece of comfort when I'm fighting to find the good. My days are filled with what they are because He loves me. That's the most grace-filled piece of good I will ever know.
